Many indiscretions and leaks allow us to have a first glimpse of the Galaxy S21.

📆 What is the Galaxy S21 release date?

Samsung will present the three Galaxy S21 (S30) on January 14, 2021. Following the disappointing sales of Note 20 and S20, the manufacturer seems to have decided to rush the arrival of the range on the market.

As always, pre-orders should be open immediately. The smartphones should be on sale in stores from January 29, 2021.

Note that nothing is official at this point. It is also possible that Samsung will wait until February to launch the Galaxy S21.

💰 What is the price of the Galaxy S21?

Samsung should follow the pricing positioning of the Galaxy S21 on the previous generation. As a reminder, Samsung had marketed the Galaxy S20 range between € 909 and € 1359.

📱 What is the design of the Galaxy S21?

As the renderings and models follow one another, we begin to have a fairly precise idea of the design of the Galaxy S21. Overall we can say that the design of the Galaxy S21 resembles that of the previous generation.

The only real difference is the photo block on the back, in the upper left corner. The whole was confirmed by the first physical models of the Galaxy S21. (below)

We would have liked that Samsung finally offered us a mobile front panel that is only screen, without border, notch or punch. It will not be a priori for this time. The manufacturer is working on a photo sensor technology under the screen that would make it invisible, as has already been done with fingerprint scanners.

But Samsung is not yet ready to implement it in a consumer product, because the component does not yet fully meet its quality requirements. It is the Galaxy Z Fold 3 foldable smartphone expected in the second half of 2021 that could become the first device to benefit from it.

The S21 + and S21 Ultra will benefit from an aluminum frame and glass back, with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection as on the Note 20. For its part, the standard S21 would be satisfied with plastic, like the Note 20. The three smartphones are IP68 certified for water and dust resistance.

📳 What screen is fitted to the Galaxy S21?

There will normally be three screen sizes: 6.2 inches for the S21, 6.7 inches for the S21 +, and 6.8 inches for the S21 Ultra. Dynamic AMOLED 2X technology will make a comeback on all three S21 models.

The three screens should display a QHD + 1440p definition, with HDR10 + compatibility and benefit from a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz on the S21 Ultra.

Samsung should make it possible to take advantage of both 120 Hz and QHD + quality, while it was necessary to choose between the two on the previous generation (FHD + in 120 Hz or QHD + in 60 Hz). To reduce the energy impact Samsung would include LPTO technology in its screen.

Already used in Apple Watch, LTPO technology would be reserved for the S21 Ultra panel. The Always-On feature will of course be there to always see the time, the battery level and notifications even at rest.

Also, those screens that will have uniform bezels on all four sides will not all have curved edges like on the current generation Galaxy. Sources close to the industry even confirm that the Galaxy S21 and S21 + will have a fully flat AMOLED display.

🛠 What is the technical sheet of Galaxy S21?

The S21 generation marks a turning point, because they will be equipped with an SoC engraved in 5 nm, and no longer in 7 nm (or 8 nm). However, like every year two different chips will be used depending on the market.

In Europe, and therefore in France, it will be necessary to rely on Galaxy S21s equipped with an Exynos 2100 SoC, while in the United States and in certain markets, smartphones will be sold with a Snapdragon 875 chip. As

you know, we can see that for several years a performance gap between Exynos and Snapdragon smartphones. Since the abandonment of the Exynos R&D division, we could hope for a little more "normal" performance in tones of what Qualcomm offers.

However, the preliminary benchmarks are already there, and it seems that Samsung is playing back its version of Un jour sans fin. The latest Geekbench benchmark for the Snapdragon 875 variant suggests a performance difference of around 7.3% -8, 5% with Exynos models.

The Exynos 990 will give way to the Exynos 2100

🔋 What autonomy for the Galaxy S21?

The standard S21 should carry a 4000mAh battery like the S20. The S21 + would be entitled to a 4800 mAh accumulator, with a capacity slightly greater than what we had on the S20 +. No change for the Ultra version, it is the same 5000 mAh battery of the S20 Ultra that is expected on this model.

The Galaxy S21 Ultra will benefit from a 45 Watts fast charge. On the other hand, the fast charging of the Galaxy S21 will not change: while the S20 was satisfied with a 25W charge and the S20 Ultra was already at 45W, the S21's charge will remain at 25 W.

The three mobiles will be compatible with wireless charging as well as the “powerbank” function allowing the smartphone's battery to be used to charge a third-party device, such as wireless headphones.

Like Apple with its iPhones, Samsung would not include a charger or headphones in the S21 box. To make up for the abandonment of wired AKG headphones, Samsung would still consider slipping a pair of Galaxy Buds Beyond into the S21's packaging. But this is yet to be confirmed.

📸 Is the Galaxy S21 good in photos? Have a good camera?

The information that has reached us so far concerns primarily the Galaxy S21 Ultra. The latter would be equipped with a 108 megapixel sensor. This will not be the ISOCELL Bright HM1 module found on the Galaxy S20 Ultra and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra but an improved version of it.

Samsung would bet on a camera composed of a total of 4 sensors for the S21 Ultra: a main lens of 108 megapixels (like the S20 / Note 20 Ultra), an ultra wide angle module of 12 megapixels, a 10 megapixel sensor with 3X optical zoom and a final 10 megapixel lens with 10X optical zoom.

In the hole in the screen, Samsung would place a 40-megapixel photo sensor. For their part, the S21 and S21 + would be equipped with a triple photo sensor consisting of a 12-megapixel sensor, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens and a 64-megapixel telephoto lens. The three Galaxy S21s should allow 8K filming at 30fps.

🖋 Does the Galaxy S21 have an S-Pen stylus?

The S21 Ultra should be accompanied by the S-Pen, with features so far exclusive to the Note range. It should be noted that the first renderings of the S21 Ultra do not nevertheless mention a drawer to house the S-Pen in the structure.

The arrival of the S-Pen is at least confirmed on the S21 Ultra model - the accessory will nevertheless be sold separately.

🤖 Which Android version for the Galaxy S21?

The three models of Galaxy S21 will be natively running Android 11. Samsung has promised three years of software support on its flagships, so they will receive an update to the next three major versions of Android: Android 12, Android 13 and Android 14 .

course will be found for the occasion a new version of the home overlay one IU, one of the best interfaces Android market. According to the latest news, Samsung would integrate One UI 3.1 directly into its Galaxy S21 (S30). As usual, the firm would ignore version 3.0 of its interface.

If the S-Pen is confirmed, the smartphones concerned should take over many of the stylus-related features available on the latest Galaxy Note. The wireless DeX mode that first appeared with the Note 20 could also land on the S21 series.
