You see as much as you know: the importance of knowledge in creating choices.
The way you see things is strictly related to information. The depth and influence of a particular sensory input to one of your five senses is related to the things you know about it and the meanings you connect with it, which are ultimately information. We can even say that we sense the world through information, not the senses!
Think about it .. What is the difference between a stranger and your best friend? Nothing at all except the amount of information you associate with the two.
Imagine that a random person came across in front of you for the first time .. You probably won't notice them. Suppose you meet him by chance somewhere and spend one day with each other, at a conference or party for example .. If you met him the next day, would you see him in the same way that you saw him only one day ago? of course not. Just that little information that you know about this person - including the memories or impressions you made about him that day - changed the person’s state of consciousness from “strange” to “known.” Over time, the information will transform the same person into another state, perhaps from Known to a relative, then to very close, or perhaps the opposite happens and turns into an enemy.
Let's talk about a more extreme example .. On the level of perception, what is the difference between reality and virtual worlds? Just the amount of information. Reality transmits information to the five senses, while the technologies that we currently possess are unable to do so, at least until now.
In this way, dreams are by no means less realistic than reality. Can you differentiate between a dream and reality before you wake up? Imagine that you were born in a state of permanent hibernation, you will dream all the time and never wake up, how do you know what reality is as we know it? You wouldn't know, that's because you have your own copy of it.
This brings us to an important conclusion: When we deal with anything - from human beings to the concept of reality itself - we do not deal with it, but rather we deal with mental models that we have built about it according to the information available to us, so it is very natural that the saint of a person is Satan. Another person, and to be one person's heaven is another person's hell. Unless the information in a person's head changes about that thing, their outlook will not change. It is very important to keep this point in mind when dealing with people, especially in relation to conflicts.
The other conclusion is that those with more information than others live in a more "richer" reality than others, even if they physicists share the same place. Since learning is the primary means of gathering information, in this way it may turn into a goal in itself. You do not need any other reason to learn other than that the current mental model of reality in your head does not like you, and you want to see it in deeper, richer, less boring form!
